Spent time looking for the Edmund Fitzgerald while stationed in Michigan and 3.5 years working on and flying in helicopters in Oregon.

Navy, 20+ Years
Enlisted after graduating from UW Madison in 1951.
In Oct. of 1952 was accepted into the Navy OCS program and commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in Mar. 1953. Released to inactive duty in Mar. 1956. Stayed as a drilling reservist until retirement on July 1 1980 wirh the rank of a Navy
Captain.

Served 20 years in the Army from Hawaii to IRAQ and back to Virginia. Retired from Fort Eustis and am still serving working Civil Service for the Army.

Michael Kadinger
Class of 1972
Navy, 3 Years
Mick did 8 weeks of boot camp for the National Guard and then did another 8 for the Navy. He served as an airplane mechanic on the Midway aircraft Carrier CVA-41 for 3 years off the shores of Vietnam and was home-ported in Japan. His was the first ship back in Korea since the Korean Conflict.

Our Durand High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Durand High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
